I'm thinking of upgrading my low end gaming PC mobo/cpu to an intel chipset (from a cheapo AMD fx8800) and I was looking for suggestions in the $300 - $350 range; preferably with RAM and with a Micro ATX board. I had my eye on an i5 4690K and a i5 6600 but I'm not certain there aren't better alternatives out there for gaming. I'm looking for a combo that will last for a few years that I can add to. I'm going to continue running my GTX 750ti GPU until next year when I plan to upgrade to better card but I feel like my cpu is the bottleneck that's holding me back right now.
