So I got a new HDD, my old one broke. Problem is I cannot install windows on my pc now because my BIOS won't pick up my USB keyboard. I cannot press F12 on startup to select the USB-HDD to start the install so it boots up to this message :
"Verifying DMI Pool Data .............."
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
Of course I cannot press enter because it does nothing. I have tried various USB keyboards in all the USB slots. Would I have to go buy a PS/2 Keyboard to install windows??? I've been trying to fix this all day and it is really annoying me.

My motherboard :- Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard

Thanks :)

what version of Windows are you trying to install? newer hardware may not have usable default drivers for older versions.
it sounds like a USB driver issue. if so, the drive nor the keyboard will be detected until those drivers are installed. which starts a cycle you can't win because they would need to be installed onto a disk that you can't access.

better off getting a SATA or PCIe HD/SSD for regular use and using the USB drive for storage. and with new disk install you could go buy the cheapest PS/2 keyboard you can find or buy one, fix the issue, and return it. office supply stores and Best Buy are very used to and very cool about people bringing back hardware because it may not be compatible with their system. just tell them it wouldn't work or wouldn't work correctly with your system after you're done with it.

sorry, not much of an easy solution out there i know of...

either way, if it doesn't have working USB drivers it will not recognize the install disk being used.
an easy solution to that problem would be to find someone who can burn you a dvd version.

still didn't say which version of Windows you are installing. if it's 8 or 10 you should be fine driver-wise but you really never know.
