How many Fans can my motherboard have

I am building a PC, and am going to use a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 motherboard. I just wanted to know how many fans I can connect to it. The fans I plan to use are Fractal Design Silent Series R2 140mm fans, as these are the fans that come with my case, but i would like to add some extra, as my case only comes with 2.

You can connect 3 fans with water cooling block.But you can use spliters to add more.
