Is the Samsung SM951 M.2 PCI-E NVMe compatible with my GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK (rev 1.0)?

I'm looking to add the samsung SM951 m.2 256GB PICe SSD to my Gigabyte MB GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK. The model number of the SSD is MZVPV256HDGL. My MB is rev 1.0 if that makes a difference. The comparability list on the Gigabyte website does not seem that current. So I'm wondering if anyone as tried this combo successfully or has any guidance.

Also, I've heard that installing the OS (win10 in my case) onto an M.2 can be tricky. Any thoughts on that with the combo mentioned above (if it is compatible)?

I'd prefer to go with the NVMe rather than ACHI. I'm assuming the ACHI model would work if your guidance is that the NVMe is not compatible.

I should also mention I'm using the latest version of the BIOS on my MB.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the reply. I see that it will fit and is listed as supported. Will the MB with the latest bios support the NVMe standard? I didn't see that part on the GB documentation. Any idea?

Thanks.

I understand from reading the various docs that it should work. But there are some assumptions putting all the pieces together that it will actually work. Has anyone installed a 950 pro in a Z97 GB motherboard and had success?

Thanks.

Gigabyte support says that it is not compatible. Or at least they will not support it. The newest compatibility list is from Feb 2015. So I'm wondering if / when they will update the list. Or should I assume that any m.2 drive released after Feb 2015 will not be compatible?

I'm wondering if it will in fact work, but they just haven't tested it and won't commit to saying it is compatible.
