Made a couple tweaks and removed the mail-in rebates (not sure if you were taking that into consideration).

I actually had an ASUS Gene VII and I was pretty disappointed. It would crash when I set my 2400mhz TridentX to their "stock" speed. Switched to MSI and everything runs smoothly. Also haven't had any bad ASRock experiences either (both a z97 and AMD 970 board).

When it comes to motherboards, I find it that most people have differing opinions. I'd say that if you go with MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, or Asrock you're not going to get anything pitiful at all. It's all going to be quite good at least. Asus can be far overpriced. Asrock seems to be great for the money but gigabyte does deliver great quality. I'm going with a Gigabyte myself for my upcoming motherboard.

@Zerk: What are the QC issues with MSI?

NZXT Source 210/220 or even a Corsair 100R/200R/SPEC-3. The NZXT's and 100R/200R aren't flashy or anything, but they're relatively inexpensive and get the job done. The SPEC-3 has some more aesthetics to it, but it's your call in the end. I've used an NZXT 210 in the past and currently have a Corsair 200R. I prefer the 200R/SPEC-3 more because they have tool-less HDD/SSD design.
