3550 is a locked processor so no you can't really overclock it. Unlock CPUs all have a 'K' following their model number. Stat sheet from Intel. http://ark.intel.com/products/65516/Intel-Core-i5-3550-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz
It's an i5, its perfectly fine for playing games. By this I mean you have a GPU, the i5 won't create any real bottlenecks on anything at the moment. Just the CPU using its onboard iGPU is a different story.
