would i gain more performance doing this? i plan to upgrade to a bigger ssd aswell. all other parts are being reused such as cpu cooler ram graphics card the gpu is a msi r9 270x. how much better would the pc run? the ram is 8g a-data xpg and hyper 212 evo cooler i already checked the watts my power supply xfx 650 watt should still be good if i switch out parts.

Solution
I'd go the Hero/6600K and it's a big jump - that's what I'm playing with now and I have an 8370/Crosshair rig, no comparison the Intel is far superior

you'll certainly run cooler and use less power. the i5-6600 is also a more powerful processor but how much of a gain? probably depends on what you're doing. also, doesn't 1151 require DDR4? so there's another expense.

yeah i forgot it required ddr4 no wonder my current ram wouldn't show up in pcpartpicker after selecting the i5 6600k cpu
