Toms,

I'm running an Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 with an AMD FX-6300. I'm looking to upgrade my ram from the standard 8gb 1333 I'm running right now. My hardware is not overclocked. I've read conflicting information on what my system will support. My motherboard's QVL seems to indicate I can do 4 sticks of 1866, however I've read that modern AMD chips will only support 2 sticks at 1866? If anyone can clear this up i'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Solution

overclock your ram to 1600

it's pointless to go higher if you don't have an APU

there are some good guides out there
