Hi,

This is my first build from scratch and I would appreciate some help.

I am planning to use this PC to play some new gen games and I would like some decent performance. I am not planning on overclocking but let me know your opinions and if you think I am overlooking anything in my build, specially with the PSU.

Approximate Purchase Date: 2-3 weeks

Budget Range: $1200-1300 total

System Usage from Most to Least Important: playing some new gen games and some 3d modelling

Are you buying a monitor: No, already have 1440p monitor

Parts to Upgrade: Looking for a complete new build

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, but not included in budget

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon
Location: Scotland, UK

Parts Preferences: Looking for a i5 Skylake CPU

Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 2560 x 1440

Additional Comments: quiet PC preferred, decent performance running new games

Why Are You Upgrading: Current PC is too old and needs to retire

The build I am planning is:

CPU
Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard
Asus H170-PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Memory
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory

Storage
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card
MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card

Case
NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply
SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Is this a decent set up? Any suggestion are appreciated, but I am trying to keep the cost similar to this one.

Thanks for reading my post.

Solution
you done a very good job with research in all honesty then mate.

The Psu you picked out is very high quality and 550W is enough to handle that build but it will be running close to full capacity with the GPU being under full load so a 650W maybe a good idea but its not needed.

Thanks for the reply mate. I have been putting it together and researching for a few weeks now.

I just wanted some advice before buying. Especially with the PSU, as some have suggested I get a 650W but I am not sure I need it.
