Hello all, my current graphic card is acting up and needs to be changed and I am looking for a good replacement. Currently I have:

  • Motherboard - Intel D965XBX2
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Cuo E6600 2.4Ghz (Small overclock to 2.8Ghz)
    RAM - 4 x 1GB OCZ DDR2-800Mhz
    Current GPU - EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB GDDR3 - 650Mhz core and 972Mhz memory - PCI-e v1 (needs replacing)
    PSU - 650W

I build this system 7 years ago and it has served me well. What would be a good graphic card that I can get to replace the one I have? Budget is £75-£110

(Usually play CS-Source, CS-GO, Warcraft - TFT, Left 4 Dead, TF2)

Additional Questions (noob questions):

When choosing a graphic card, does the GPU clock speed also get multiplied like in the CPU?
Does the graphic card clock speed and memory speed need to match up with the CPU and RAM?

You could go with a NVIDIA GT 730 1 GB DDR5 for your budget or you can stretch upto 750x if u can. Power Supply is the main requirement. GT 730 requires at least 300W min Power supply. And tell me your PCI.e slot version.

Go for replacing your PCI.e v.10 to PCI.e v16.0. That should work.

PCI-e versions go from 1.0 -> 2.0 -> 3.0. There is no PCI-e v16.0... That said the PCI-e have x16 bus connector pins which I think you might be getting confused with... My motherboard can support 16 pin PCI-e device

I meant 2.0. I'm sorry. Check if the card you buy will be backwards compatible with your PCi.e v1.0. Otherwise go for v2.0
