**First of all, I would like to apologize for my bad english, it is not my native language**

I really need help

Hi, I've been using ubuntu 12.04 for almost 2 years, so a few months ago I decided to install windows 7 (mostly for gaming). since the first week my pc just lock up (freeze) at random times, also do a buzzy sound from the speakers. I did a clean install again but didn't work, I've tried installing windows 8, 8.1 as well but it still freezes.

Already tried updating drivers (using differents softwares like Driver booster or slimdrivers), scans for viruses, spyware, malware, updating the BIOS, repairing the registry, checking the CPU and GPU temps (which are good, so it's not overheating), also run memtest for about 17 hours (did 7 passes and without a single error) and NOTHING WORK

I decided to use driver verifier looking for a bad driver or something like that, but the pc still freeze and didn't show up any BSOD's. So I really don't know what to do know

Using ubuntu NEVER got me a freeze or crash, that's why I believe it's a software issue.

system specs:
CPU: AMD fx 6100 six core
GPU: Nvidia gt 730 1gb DDR5
Memory: 6GB DDR3 (4gb + 2gb Kingston)
Motherboard: A970M-A DELUXE
SO: Windows 7 ultimate x64

I need help

It's likely not an issue with the drivers, from the sound of things it's either a power supply, motherboard or video card issue. Maybe RAM. Try running on one RAM stick at a time. If that also causes crashes, I'd test a new power supply first, I am going to guess by the lower end 730 card and very likely pirated Win 7 Ultimate version, there is a cheap power supply in the system.

Thanks for your reply.

Well, I already tried with one RAM stick at time in all ram slots (and one of the ram stick it's from a friend and he never had issues with it), and maybe could be the power supply, but, why never give me freezes on ubuntu? I used to play a lot of games like csgo, portal, left4dead on ubuntu, and never had a freeze. And now on windows I still got the freezes even just while watching a video on youtube. (The windows it's not a pirated version,)

Also I have another lower end gpu (nvidia 210 1gb), already tested and still had the freezes in windows.

**I want to add that now I'm testing windows in safe mode, and I haven't any freeze yet, it's been around 2 days. So, what this could mean? one of the windows services could be the problem?

You can try a clean Windows setup and see if that fixes things. Safe Mode hides a lot of issues even if it can help you trouble-shooot. For example the standard video card drivers don't load, so if it's a video card issue or a power issue Safe Mode would not show those aside from maybe working while regular boot does not. Most video card issues only come up during regular use not in Safe Mode, unless the card is really in bad shape.

Hello,

Well.....I replaced power supply for a 600w one and the cpu thermal paste, didn't work.....

I've literally tried everything, I'm considering buying a new motherboard (maybe it's a bad combination of motherboard and cpu??), really, I don't know what to do :(

Still......I'm using only ubuntu and I haven't one freeze or crash yet, but I really need windows

Yeah, I tried one stick at time in every slot (the motherboard has 4 slots), still having the freezes :(
