Hi,

I have a 1tb Seagate Baracuda HDD, and a Samsung 840evo 120gb SSD. My OS, steam and some steam games are installed onto the SSD, and the remaining games onto a steamapps folder on my HDD.

FSX-Steam Edition is installed onto the HDD. I have various mods installed, but two paid A2A simulations mods - Cessna 172 Trainer, and Accufeel V2. I am currently looking into purchasing the 737NGX, and therefore would like to move FSX to my SSD.

I am hoping that I don't have to uninstall FSX and then reinstall as this is very time consuming with rural internet (16.4gb download), and I'm worried about losing my mods.

I am also aware that doing a copy and paste method is also very risky.

I have enough room to move all the games on my HDD to my SSD, but am unsure how to do that, and I would prefer to just move FSX.

Is there a method I could use that isn't gonna cause mod issues, update issues etc?? If not could you advise me of what to do ?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Kind Regards.

Not all games can be moved but with steam its highly likely to work.
Begin by making a backup copy of the game.
Then you can create a folder for steam games on the ssd and add it Steam library. { Steam>Settings>Downloads>Steam Library Folders }
Shut down steam.
Move the whole fsx game folder over to the SSD.
Restart Steam
Test :)

Hi Guys sorry for the delay but thanks for your replies!

In the end I used steam mover. However I have now got a new 250GB SSD and I wish to move the games on both the HDD and SSD over to the new SSD. How would I approach this?? Do I move the FSX back to its original location in Steam Mover somehow? Then what are my next steps. I have steam client and some games installed into my current SSD and then some games installed into my HDD, including the link for FSX that steam mover created.

I also installed the 737 NGX onto steam once moved. Will this cause issues??

Thank you for all of your help!!
Kind Regards

Don't use steam mover, just use my method, it's flawless. Steam is actually a very smart application, I had to reinstall Windows on my laptop, and I had most of my steam games on my laptops 2nd drive, but the steam install was on the OS drive i was formating as well. After reinstalling windows, I just told steam to install drive where my old 2nd steam library was (and renamed it from "Steam Library" to just "Steam" as it will be the new default folder) and it found the games I had there after a system restart.

The only extra downloads/installs after that are reinstalls of the things like VCredist and .net that each game requires a slightly different version of the first time you launch em.
