Best cheap AMD am3

How much do have in mind of spending when you say cheap.
If you look in the right places you can get a AM3 motherboard for about £40 or slightly more in price.

Your options on the cpu can be a Phenom II cpu, quad core.

Or as i`m sure you know a AMD FX based CPU.
For a Quad based FX cpu a 4300 or 4350 you looking at about £54 Oem and retail £59.99 inc vat.

Then I have to ask what type of memory your old motherboard has if you have one.
If it uses DDR2.

Then you will have to Add about another £40 for 8Gb of DDR3 memory as well.

So your looking at about a minimum of £150.00

Saying that, you have not told us what the specs are of the current system you have CPU wise are ect.
As you may be able to use parts like the memory from it for the new AM3 mobo ect.

All I can say is you will find an AM3 FX based cpu will perform much better than the Phenom x4 cpu you currently have.
And providing you get a half decent AM3 or AM3+ motherboard.
You will get a good overclock of a FX based cpu, about an extra 800Mhz to 900Mhz or more when overclocking the cpu.

For $200 you can get a FX 4300 quad core and clock it up to about 4.6Ghz from it`s base speed of 3.8Ghz.
I have one on a water cooling loop and can get it to overclock to 5.0Ghz if i up the voltage to about 1.46v.
Runs 100% stable under heavy tasks or load, gaming and the temps sit around 54c.
And a decent motherboard with good overclocking ability for the FX cpu used.

You already have the DDR 3 ram.
And a Nvidia 750 TI Pci-e card.

It would add a bit more punch but not too much with a FX and a new AM3 mobo to boot.
If you want to overclock the FX cpu then you should at least be looking at a motherboard with a FX 970 or 990 motherboard chip set.

If you want to get a Six core FX based cpu the 6300 over clocks just as well as a quad core.
Like I said though pay attention to the chip set of the motherboard, if intending to overclock then go for a 970 mobo chip set or a 990. For the best overclocking stability.

You will need a good air cooler or a water cooler also.
The 6300 cpu will of course generate more heat when you overclock it due to the two extra cpu cores.
So it is important to get some good cpu cooling ok.

That is a processor DOWNGRADE .
