Hi, i just got a new sandisk extreme pro SSD for my PC but having troubles installing it. It is not showing up on my computer, the disk manager or the bios.

However i tried it on a friends PC with no issues and i put it into an external hard drive case and used it on my PC with no issues. I've also tested with different cables in different ports with no luck and also gone through the device manager to check all drivers are up to date.

I'm running windows 10, with an ASUS motherboard m5A99FX Pro R2.0.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Solution
Just FYI, i did a few things and got it working. Not sure exactly what it was though.
-Update BIOS
-Manually updated the drivers in device manger
-Connected SSD to another PC to update firmware
Thanks for the help anyway
Cheers

You will most likely have to reformat it, Make sure its plugged into a sata port and has sufficient power coming to it.
iim not sure if it requires drivers but if it does take them from the previous computer they worked on. I also recommend making sure that this SSD is plugged onto the inside sata and not the esata exterior.

You can also check for the disk in command prompt using Diskpart, Disk List

some of this ssd troubleshooting may help here , a different brand but the steps apply to any really ,just don't use seatools , could check that sandisk has a program for theirs for diagnostics if it comes to that.

Thanks bailojustin, unfortunately no luck with those tips
Tried reformatting it with no luck.
Also don't think power would be an issue-i originally had 2 HDDs, 1 SSD and a DVD drive plugged in with no issues but I've taken all but the original ssd out now.
Had a look on sandisk.com, no particular drivers but i tried using the dashboard program and it can't detect any sandisk drive.
I've tried it in every SATA port on the motherboard.
The disk part cmd only shows my existing drive.

okay after more research sounds to me like your Chipset can't handle the speed the SSD has, please update your chipset directly from amd for the latest drivers, your current chipset on that board is AMD SB950 Controller I would recommend geting the latest drivers and raid drivers for it.

I used the auto driver detect software from the AMD website (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download) and it said everything was up to date. Si i went and manually searched and downloaded a set of drivers for it (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064) but not sure if this is the right one because its still didn't work.

First thing is to find it in BIOS, nothing else matters without it. If SATA is set to AHCI or RAID, disk will not show up in Standard BIOS page but have to look for it in the menu where you change HDD BOOT order. If it's nowhere to be found in BIOS no OS or drivers would notice it.
