Hello! I am so sorry but I would appreciate it very much if you could let me know whether I damaged my CPU.

I have recently built a PC on my own for the first time and tried overclocking. My CPU is i7 6700K. All went fine and I ended up with 1.335 v (or 1.340 v I can't remember exactly) with 4.7 GHz. I then set it to Adaptive Mode.

However, just few moments ago, before I went to sleep I ran AIDA64 while the system is on Adaptive Mode. I ran it for about 5 to 7 seconds(it could not have been longer than 20 seconds) and I noticed on my HWMonitor the voltage was around 1.5v!

Did I damage my CPU or any of my system? If yes than is the damage negligible that I could just stop worrying and use my pc without this fear? Please help me... Thank you very much.

Realistically you probably didn't do anything to it, 1.5 is the wall if you unlucky and got a weaker chip 1.5 for a few hours may damage the chip, but probably wont, a few second almost definately wont. And our CPU should have shut down before got hot enough to be damaged. (if the voltage was way too high thne it could fry the chip before it could shut down, 1.5 shouldn't be that high).

unless your chips starts blue screening a lot all of a sudden The chance of something bad having happened is so low , its not worth worrying about
