Best Motherboard for Everyday Use

I am looking to build myself a new computer. It's going to be for general everyday use with no major high-end tasks except for some occasional video encoding. I don't plan on doing any overclocking, and I won't be using this for gaming. I want something that will allow for growth and have enough USB ports on the rear and internal to connect all my devices.

Right now I have selected the Intel Core i5-6500 processor, and I am trying to determine what motherboard to purchase. I have narrowed down my choices to

• MSI Z170A GAMING M5 LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard
• ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard
• Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3 LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard

I was leaning towards the ASUS but after reading the poor reviews on NewEgg I am not sure that is the best option.

My biggest issue with the MSI is the Killer E2400 since I heard Intel is better for performance, however because I won't be gaming I doubt that maybe a concern.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

You chose gaming motherboards, but you are not doing any gaming......?

Z series motherboards are for overclockers and gamers.

Start with the cheapest Asus or Gigabyte socket 1151 motherboard, and work up from there until you find one with the features you need.
Then look at some reviews.
It doesn't have to be expensive to work well....

Appreciate the quick response. Any recommendation on a lower end motherboard?

I need at least 1 M2 port (preferably 2 but not required), 6 (or more) rear USB ports (can be a mix of 2.0/3.0), 4 on-board USB headers (can be a mix of 2.0 and 3.0) 4 (or more) SATA ports, and 2 (or more) PCIe slots. Dual GPU support would be nice but not a requirement.

I just go on the manufauturers website and use their compare function. If I don't understand a feature, I Google it.
I like Asus and Gigabyte because I have had more failures from the other makers

See if you like either of THESE (LINK) .

I would prefer the Gaming Pro because of the Intel NIC.
