I have ordered my 250 GB Samsung SSD , its on the way.
The oldest part in my PC is the motherboard - AsRock N68C-GS FX which have 4 "SATA 2" ports.
And I just found that my motherboard does not have an AHCI option in it.
In bios - there is SATA Operation mode, in it only "IDE" and "RAID" options are there.

I was expecting to get a better boot time and overall faster system response and load time for games like GTA V.

Should I continue with SSD ? or cancel my order and buy a 1/2 TB HDD instead ?

I wont change the MB , because it will feel like spending money for nothing.

Solution
You want the features of a new motherboard, but you don't want to change the motherboard.

That SSD on a SATA II port will be choked. It will be 'faster' than an HDD on that same port, but it will not reach its full potential.

Yep Have to agree it will never reach the speeds that's its suppose to but it will be faster then a regular HD ..I recently upgraded and friends pc which didn't support the SSD motherboard is a older G31M-GS it was faster but no where near the speeds the drive can produce.
