Hi everyone,

I want to upgrade my graphic card to a GTX 970 (And Im not sure which one to chose; SC, SSC, FTW ? I know theres not a lot of difference which is why I have a hard time choosing) and I was wondering if my power supply will do the job. For the GTX 970 ACX 2.0 FTW, it says that the requirement is 500W (based on a PC with a i7 CPU). I Currently have a EVGA 500B, a i5 CPU and 8GB (4GBx2)RAM. Should I upgrade my power supply too ? What happens if I dont have enough power ? Can it damage something or will it just slow my PC down ? Do the ratings of power supply (80+, Bronze, Silver...) are just for efficiency or does it affect safety and protection ?

Thanks !

Thanks for the quick reply !

What brand would you suggest ? Something good but not too expensive ? Are EVGA power supply good above the 600B mentionned in the article ? I would also like to maybe run 2 cards in SLI in a couple of years. I think a GTX 970 run around 200W. A 750W Supply would be big enough for this right ?
