Hey guys,

I'm building my first PC now that I'm out of college and don't need the mobility of a laptop. My budget is ~$800-900, not incredibly firm. My proposed build can be found here:

I plan on using my pc for gaming, and would like it to last for at least 5 to 6 years. I don't need ultra settings on everything by any means, but I'd like to be able to play new games without FPS issues at high settings.

I do have a couple questions regarding this build, as well as building a pc in general:

1. With the above build, what would my "bottleneck" component be? Do you see any components that are overkill and I'd be better off getting something less expensive?

2. Am I missing any components you feel are necessary? I'm on the fence about an optical drive. I really can't remember the last time I installed anything with a CD.

3. Do I need thermal compound for the CPU?

4. What's the best way to go about purchasing an OS? Do I purchase it online and download it onto a flash drive and boot into that when turning on my new pc for the first time?

5. Would using an ATX instead of micro be very beneficial if I'm not planning on using two graphics cards? At first I wasn't considering mircos, but they are quite a bit cheaper and I'm not sure that I need everything that a full size ATX offers.

Any other comments, tips, or recommendations would be highly appreciated! I've done most of my research on Tomshardware's website and found it very helpful so far. Thanks guys and gals!
