well it looks as if verizon has finally killed foxfi. is there a means to connect my unlimited data LG G3 to an asus streaming media device. could I somehow connect my phone via cable to a wireless router to connect or somehow connect directly via male to male micro usb...if this is in the wrong forum i apologize.

I suspect the answer is you can't. If you have one of the very old unlimited plans you can run those tethered which I think includes the built in hotspot.

The foxfi was used by people to bypass the tethering restrictions on the newer "unlimited" plans. These newer plans do not allow tethering.

Any form of cabled connection will be detected as tethering by the phone and not allowed....or it will nag you to upgrade.

You can of course root the phone and then load tethering apps. Since they have shut down foxfi they likely are going to start enforcing more of the tethering rules. They can easily detect traffic that does not actually come from a phone. They may do what ATT does and just wait a couple of months and send you a huge bill which I am sure they have in all the fine print in the contract.
