New built PC display problems after 3 hours of use

Hello,

As in the title mentioned i have built my 3rd PC. Sadly i didnt know that running a PC without CPU cooler is as delicate as described in multiple threads in this forum. When i noticed the CPU temperature has gone to 105 C i shut it off. The next day i bought a Noctua NH-U9S CPU cooler, installed it. The PC stopped shutting itself down and when i checked inside the BIOS the CPU temperature was at constant 35 C. So i was really relieved i didnt fry my new processor. I installed my OS (Widnows 10) and all the drivers on the disc delivered with the motherboard. Everything was working fine. I installed MSI afterburner to monitor CPU temperatures and it was allright. While installing Fallout 4 i left my PC untouched. After i came back after one hour of doin something else i noticed that my PC has shut itself off. I dont know if it was some problems causing this or if it was the automatic windows updates. However when i tried to turn it back on, the fans start spinning, the lights turn on and all seems normal except for my monitor which cant get any signal anymore. so i basically have a blackscreen. The system doesnt shut down itself either, it just runs without any display signal. The last thing i did before it has gotten into this state was updating my video drivers. There are a few things i didnt consider problematic due to my lack of experience building PCs when i set it all up because i was able to install my OS, all drivers and a few games so i thought it was all okay.

-I never heard beeps coming from the motherboard.
-Even after installing my CPU cooler i had to manually press the menu button on my monitor every time i restarted my PC in order to get it to display.
-One of the cpu pins located on the motherboard is bent onto the plate.

My specs are:

Intel Core i7 5820K (LGA 2011-v3, 3.30GHz, Unlocked)

Samsung 850 EVO Basic (250GB, 2.5" )

WD Blue (1000GB, 3.5", Desktop)

Samsung DVD-ROM SH-118BB/BEBE

Corsair RM Series RM850 (850W)

AsRock X99 WS (LGA 2011-v3, Intel X99, E-ATX)

MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G (GM204, 4GB)

HyperX Fury (2x, 8GB, DDR4-2400, DIMM 288) Installed int the two slots closest to the CPU on the right side.

Microsoft Windows 10 Home

I really hope there are some PC cracks who could help me in this matter. If you need further informations about my PC or how i did things pls ask me freely.

p.s. sorry for my bad England - jk :)

it has been a common problem for the last couple iterations of Windows to accidentally "forget" which display output it is using after being shut down or updating graphics drivers. will sometimes default to an HDMI port that may not even have a display attached to it.

you could try running an HDMI cable to your current display, or if you already are, running the cable from one of the other HDMI ports on your card. or try starting it up with no cables attached and while it is running attach your current display to see if it "switches" to that connection.
this could tell you if that is the problem here.

also, memory should be installed in DIMM slots A1 & B1 with your motherboard. that should be the 1st and the 3rd slots on the left side of the CPU, they should be labelled on the motherboard and in the motherboard manual.

if the CPU pin(s) are bent that can cause a lot of issues. did you straighten it or did the CPU still slide in and straighten it itself?

First of all i really appreciate your help. Its currently 3:40 am where i live so i wont do too much in regards of fixing a CPU pin until i have slept a bit. The CPU fits perfectly into the socket that is because its only a single pin thats bent. The pin is bent in a way that hes completely laying on the mobo plate. Additionally it doesnt connect to any other pins. I hope i managed to express it so that you can understand what i mean.

I will post my results tomorrow after trying to switch RAM slots and trying out the thing with the HDMI cable.

Hello again. So i did what you recommended me to do. neither of the dvi and hdmi ports worked. i also tried to attach the cables after the pc has started which made no difference at all. the strange thing is i hear windows sounds like when you start a pc which means the OS is starting normally....

i also switched the RAM to the slots 1 and 3 on the left side which resulted in red lights lighting up on the bottom right side of the mobo. the pc has also gotten into a loop of restarting every 30 seconds so i switched them back.

sadly i cant pull much out of this knowledge and would appreciate further help.

with sets of 8 they usually start on the left, but your board may be different. if it is a dual or quad channel set of RAM you will not get full potential with them in non-corresponding slots. this is from AsRock:

glad fixing that pin helped though. good thing it was something simple and not a bad piece of hardware.
