I have a computer with the following CPU: AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon HD Graphics (3.20 GHz). and the following Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M11BB 130410599403259 Rev X.0x
My tower has slots for a GPU, and I'd like to get one, and I'd like to buy a better CPU. I'd preferably like an intel core also - is that possible with my current Motherboard? And is there anything I need to look for specifically when purchasing a better GPU?

Solution

that is a video card

and by looking at the picture, you have a weak power supply

you will need to upgrade that as well

this program will tell you what video card it is

if you wanted an intel cpu, you would need an intel based motherboard

asus m11bb is the model number for a pre built pc, not a motherboard

install this, run it and then post back with mainboard manufacturer and model

Alright, I installed and ran that program. Here is the Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC., and the Model is M11BB Rev X.0x.

That makes sense, thanks for clearing that up about the intel cores.

after doing a bit of research the complete model name for your motherboard should be Asus F2A55 M11BB

this is it right?:

the best gaming cpu your motherboard accepts is a AMD AthlonX4 760K

make sure you update your motherboard bios to the newest one from the ASUS website

also we need to know the make and model of your power supply before we can make a suggestion on a gpu

you might need to upgrade it before you can get a dedicated gpu

Alright so I'm seeing it is a AMD Radeon HD 7300 Series.

I'd like Fallout 4 to work better on my computer, it's been running pretty horribly at 5-15 fps.

My budget is fairly open ended as I'm going to be slowly upgrading. Maybe $600-800 total?

to start i recommend getting a better video card and a good power supply as the foundation

this should get you playable with minor tweaking of the settings, like turning off godrays, lowering tessellation settings, and lowering view distances a bit

you will get a very good fps boost and be very playable
