Dell Alienware PC warranty

In before everyone tells you not to buy it and build it yourself.

Alienware comes with a 1 year warranty from Dell. This is supported by dell. If you buy an extended warranty from QVC than Dell will only support it if it is the official Dell extended warranty.

Alienware normally has anywhere from 30-50% markup on there systems. Building it yourself will save you a lot of money and you can design it yourself. You will also have to fix any issues and deal with each piece of hardware warranties separate. Is paying 30-50% markup worth them putting it together and having a warranty. Only you can decide.

As to Alienware 1 year warranty than yes the one you buy from QVC will be from Alienware. The call support is an overseas heavy accented call center and can be a pain to deal with. The great thing about Alienware is they send a on site home tech to fix your computer.

I do not know much about QVC but I would NEVER buy an Alienware from them. If you are going to spend that amount of money than get it through Dell itself and try to get as many discounts as possible. Business, Military/Vet, and other type of savings can add up. Even things like AAA has Dell discounts. Depending on budget an extended warranty may also be a good idea. Heard of people getting new replacements even on 3 year old computers before.

Alienware:
Pros: Do not have to build yourself, has extended warranty options (standard IMO is only ok for low budget systems), looks neat and good cable management, software/bios/drivers are set up properly, has discounts but are hard to find.

Cons: A $3000 Alienware can be built for ~$2000 if you build it yourself, has to deal with overseas phone support, questionable hardware choices, price, price, price, stigma of buying alienware, and others I am not thinking of.

BE Warned though. Alienware phone support is one of the worst you can get. The wait time is upwards to a few hours and when you do get through you may get disconnected often. They will pass you from departments to departments in order not to help you. They barely understand English and can hardly speak it.

For the same markup but better phone support and warranty coverage I would look at Orginpc
