Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 work completely fine for some time and then suddenly at random points in time when I turn my rig on, it stays stuck at the loading screen in an infinite loop to the point where I can't access my log-in screen.... I've formatted my drive... installed new OS, but idk what seems to be the problem. It's really frustrating because the OS works fine for maybe a few days, but then ceases to work randomly to the point where I must format my drive and do a clean install of a new OS and the cycle continues.

EDIT: Here are my specs:

I bought it about last year. :( I use a: WD10EALX

I would think it is the hard drive as well. A hard drive which is going bad can have sectors die gradually over time. I've also seen disks that are going bad randomly lose data even without sectors detecting as having failed. That sounds like the most likely cause of the problem.

But it isn't even a year old :'(

Hard drives can die after a few days. It doesn't matter the age, sometimes parts are just defective. A lot of people think a defective part will either just not work or die after just a short time, but sometimes they can work for a year or two before giving out.

some point of failure...as the os and pc work and then the files are damaged it can be a bad spot of ram...a hard drive as noted or bad power. start with the mb make sure it has the newest bios on it. make sure ram set to xmp mode and drive set to achi. with the pc off remove one ram stick run memtest from a boot disk or usb stick. if both dimms pass try running with one dimm see if the error still there. if it is pull the gpu and try running with just onboard video. with the gpu pulled your not pulling on the 12v line and if the 12v line not holding it can effect the hard drive. if the pc is stable with onboard video..try another video card if you have one or a new power supply and the old gpu. use hardware info 64 set it to sensor and data logging watch the 12v line make sure it stays above 12v.

The HDD said prefail and old-age under Types when using Ubuntu Live Boot's SMART test... but when I managed to clean install and download Win7 for a temporary fix - just to check my HDD health via Data Lifeguard by Western Digital - it said Pass and Healthy. ;-;
