Hello guys,
I need your help. I have an old PC, which i want to use for HTPC. I will watch 720p and 1080p movies only, no 3D. Now, when I'm playing 1080p movies, the image is lagging. It's not smooth at all. The system specs are:

Mobo: ASUS p5ld2 Delux
CPU: Pentium D945 3,4Ghz
RAM: DDR2 3GB 800MHz
Sound card: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music
Video Card: Nvidia 6600 256MB
PSU: Fortron FPS 350pn - 350W
Software: PowerDVD 15 Ultra and Windows 7 Ultimate
TV: 52" Sharp lc52dh65e w/ resolution: 1980x1080

The PC is upgraded near it's maximum. If I buy a new video card and use a "hardware acceleration" does it will be enough to play smoothly FullHD movies? I'm looking at HD5450 (1GB) or HD6450 (1GB), the price difference is $15.

In the end I decided to buy a new mobo and CPU (second hand). I bought Intel E6500 2,93Ghz and Asus p5d for $30 since I wasn't sure that I will be able to use 'hardware acceleration' for any formats and I will be more safe with software acceleration. In the near future I will swap the Nvidia 6600 for Ati HD5450. E6500 seems to handle 1080p quite good with CCCP codec pack. Soon I will replace them with CoreAVC. Well, that's all.
