I recently made this pre-build yesterday. I was originally going to get this one:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TQQvrH

However, I wanted a Skylake build to keep up to date with the hardware so it can be "future-proof". I want to know, is it worth it right now. I have never build a computer before, so everything I buy is from scratch. Both builds I posted here about $90 apart.

If I do get this Skylake build, should I get a (2x8gb) 16GB RAM? Is the LG 24GM77 monitor good?

Okay then; Nice white themed build you have there its gonna look nice.

> Change the video card the 970 has 3.5 GB of vram which is quite less compared to its competitor the R9 390 which has 8GB of vRam and it performs significantly better in the same price so get an MSi R9 390 instead.

> For the sake of "Future proofnes" get a single stick of 8GB memory it will save you when you will be getting an upgrade to 16GB memory trust me performance isn't really affected.

> Why not windows 10 pro, Windows 10 home isn't good for gamers imo.

Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the recommendation about the R9 390, I'll look into that!

How would upgrading from a 8GB stick to two 8GB stick --making it 16GB)--work exactly? I read that regardless if the RAM are the same model and brand, it may have some negative affects. (I may have misread this since it was late at night I was researching it.) hehehe

Windows 10 pro is $90 more and I want to save the money as my budget is below $1500 (including a monitor, which I am leaning on the LG24GM77).

>Yeah gr8 get 2x 8GB Ram, although you wont use more than 8Gb in games but if you can go for it, no negative effects your board can handle upto 8 sticks of 8GB ram i think so no problems (Try getting white colored ram to mach the build).

> I would recommend this monitor excellent looking great reviews and specs about the same as your lg but i like asus better worth taking a look: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vg248qe

> Oh srry on the windows 10 thing i just looked it up, when i got windows 10 here at my region home was like 120$ and pro was like 150$ so i said wth pro for life.

One more thing try adding an ssd if you have some budget left, it would be great if you get an ssd dedicated for the os and system files wheras games and media on the hard drive leave the 2x 8 ram get a reasonably price ssd if possible.

1. I will grab a single stick 8GB -- The G.Skill Ripsaw V at 2400mhz
2. I looked into the Asus VG248QE. I did consider it many times, however, there are better monitors such as the BenQ XL2411Z and the LG24GM77. But thanks!
3. I did want to get the pro, 'til I looked at the price ha!
4. SSDs are tempting...hmm... I'll see what I can change. I may change the CPU cooler to a Cryorig H5 and the MOBO is an ASrock Z170 Pro4 -- which is cheaper, but it won't look nice with the case...

Thanks for the help!

No don't change the motherboard Asus is life, but if you want a cheaper cooler look into the cooler master hyper 212 evo but the cooler fans are black so they wont match the theme tough.

after all else is done look into this i really recommend this to people with white build it looks the build so awesome looking.

I posted the wrong build if you saw the one with the i5 4690k and I changed it back to the i5 6600k. My bad! Anyways, I am going with the Skylake build. Everyone keeps recommend the 390, but I am not sure...
