18 months ago I installed windows 7 professional to replace a xp installation. I purchased a product key and activated the installation. Microsoft agreed that it was genuine Windows. It has been on the auto update program all of that time with periodic updates being installed. Just recently I got a message indicating there was a problem with my installation. I called Microsoft and was told that my key was pirated.
I would like to be able to get a key so that I can re-activate my present installation. I do not want to have to reinstall because I have install many programs over the last 18 months.
I am not sure if I can do this with any valid key, because of the many different colors of windows 7 professional. I also don't know where is the best place to buy a new key. I have been burnt once already. In reading reviews on Amazon, I have found that some of the companies that sell through Amazon have reviews that indicate issues with valid keys.
Looking for suggestions.
