Hi, im new here, im a chinese so sorry for my bad english, i'll make it quick,
i have a dell inspiron 580s, mother is DH57M02 (it looks the same), http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/inspiron-580s_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf this is the specs of my pc im having a i3 one,

so now the original radeon hd 5450 has broken, im planning to change it to r7 240 card, (will it fit perfectly)?
but one of my friend is letting go of his gtx 550ti, but i know i have to upgrade the PSU then, can anyone give me advise? im not sure if gtx 550ti can run on my motherboard, and if im changing a new psu, if the size doesnt fit the case (its a slim case), can i leave the case open and leave it outside? as for the gtx 550ti, if its wider than my case, can i just plug it in, and leave the case open? Please help..

It should run on that power supply, it would not use much more power than the 5450. You want the GDDR5 version.
While you can run a PC with the case open, a full size card won't match the back cut-outs on a small form system. You will need to cut open the back to fit it and then you won't have anything to hold the card in. Also the 550Ti would need a power supply upgrade.

You should look for a GT 730 GDDR 5 over the 240, or a Radeon 7750, both should run in your system and will be faster than the 240. Make sure they are small form cards.

Thanks for replying!
I'm not a heavy gamer, i dont ask for full high setting gaming, but my old radeon hd 5450 can run skyrim, so i was just thinking for a slight upgrade, so you suggest the GT 730? is it a low-profile card same like radeon hd 5450? and whats the different between 1gb ddr5 and 2 gb ddr5? does it make a big different? and if i cant find GT 730, can r7 240 fit? you wouldnt recommend r7 240 because those 2 card you suggest are faster or r7 240 has bad review?
please help im confusing as im not so good in this.. i did some research too, gt 730 gigabyte 2gb ddr5 would cost around RM 300, sapphire VGA Ati r7 240 2gb ddr3 or 1gb ddr5 cost around RM 250, while r7 240 4gb ddr3 cost RM 300 (almost the same as gt730), but i saw r7 240 is 128 bit, while gt 730 is 64 bit, so what's the bit means? will it make i big different? and also the ddr3 and ddr5, will r7 240 4gb ddr3 better than 2gb ddr5 gt 730?
i know its a lot of questions... sorry mate... im a newbie...
