Recently I made a thread saying my computer was turning off and found out the CPU was overheating, we agreed it was the fan that was broken, but today it seemed to be running fine as usual, so I was wondering if the thermal paste has dried up and was making it overheat to over 72 degrees.
CPU is a fx-8350

Its possible the thermal paste was not applied correctly. I'd suggest taking CPU cooler off, cleaning the old thermal paste n applying a good quality product such as the Artic Silver range. ensure the fan is connected to the CPU header on the motherboard. Maybe in your BIOS you can set the CPU FAN duty cycle.

I haven't changed mine for like 3 to 3 1/2 years, so it really shouldn't be a frequent problem. :D
Just check your temps from time to time and reapply new paste if needed. I don't think there is a specific time period. Depends on how much and how intensive you use your PC. Mine is usually under load for quite a few hours a day. Like 3-4 days per week and still don't need new paste.
