I have decicded to switch over from my AmD set up to intel. My current set up is a GA990FXA UD3 Board and an FX 8350. I am changing over to a i7-4790K and a MSI ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 motherboard. Not sure if this makes a difference to anything but my GPU is a gtx 970. Now, if I swap these will I have to reinstall windows? I have my boot on a 120GB ssd and 4tb of storage. Should I just copy all my important files to the HDDs from the ssd, unplug the HDDS, reinstall windows on the ssd, then plug the HDDS back in and everything's there? Also, I no longer have my disc or key code so what should I do? Thanks.

What OS? Win 7 is good at configuring itself to mobo/CPU combos. Make good backups of your data files and give it a try, Win will see the new hardware and load default drivers, then when done, you will want to upgrade to the latest versions of mobo drivers from the website, run a good registry cleaner (Wise has a free version) and then will have to prob reactive Win, which is no big deal
