I decided to buy a Zotac Gtx 970 4gb, 256bit, I decided to go ahead and try to overclock for the first time and these were the results I got using afterburner.

Power limit: 106% / 91°C (Prioritize to temperature)
Core Clock: 1580Mhz ~ +290, Drivers crashed so i'm guessing this is the limit
Memory Clock: 4050Mhz ~ +500, Could Have gone Higher but temp was reaching 74, want to keep below 70
Max Temperature@Load : 74°C, 85% fan usage

I got these results without touching the voltage and using valley for 10 mins, what I'm wondering is what would be a stable setting for me to put the core and memory clock at.

These were the results with core at 250 and mem at 400, 68c, 85% fan usage, Since I'm new at overclocking i'm not sure how to know if this would be stable or not.

Solution
That's a high but not unreasonable overclock- could be stable.

Just a few comments:

Why not turn your fan up to 100% once it hits 70C? Is the noise that much louder?

You can unlink the power and temperature target, move the power target up to 120, temp target down to 85 - most cards wont hit 85 ever so that wont be the bottleneck. Maybe add 10-15mv for stability (if its needed).

The 970 can overlcock high but sometimes to its own determent, just to make sure your OC is optimized, try turrning down your memory overclock to 300 and run the benchmark to make sure the score doesnt go up (it might). My Asus 970 gets a highest benchmark score with a with a mem clock of 3760mhz (at 4000mhz the benchmark score is ~150 less) and my core...

Thanks for the response! I went ahead and did what you said and ran benchmarks for most of the day and was able to find out the best score with a lower overclock. I also went ahead and moved my fan to 100% to have it run cooler and can barely notice the difference from 85% usage.

Did the 100% fan make a difference with temps? What was your final OC?

This site is pretty nifty to see what other have gotten http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/unigine-heaven-4-0-benchmark-scores.198888/

Temp dropped to 65c and just stays there for most of the time, I'll see if I can compare with some of the benchmarks on that site you linked and see if I can make out something better, the only thing that worries me is the VRM temp but this graphics card doesn't have a sensor so gpu-z or hwmonitor isn't picking it up.
