long time lurker, first post. (Hi guys!)

Note: this isnt my main computer, a neighbour gave it to me to mess with. Also for every computer i get, i get an itch to upgrade it to make it as fast as it can go.

I have a acer veriton S670G that doesn't boot with any CPU's other than the stock pentium E5300. The CPU's that ive tried are but to no avail: a Q9550, E8600, E7200 and a celeron 430, none of them worked. All the motherboard does is emit a continuous beep from the PC speaker, spins up the CPU fan to full speed and then the motherboard power light turns off and doesn't post. It also does this without RAM installed as well.

I've contacted acer and all they have really said is that they dont support any deviations from the factory configuration. I also asked them about what CPU's does the motherboard support and they said it was confidential info.

Specs: (in case if anyone was wondering)
Pentium dual core E5300
4GB ddr3 1600mhz @800mhz
Geforce 9800gt eco 1GB
250GB HDD
delta DPS-300AD-43 REV B 300W power supply

Regards.

The manual for that series of computers does indicate that it should theoretically support all those CPUs but doesn't provide a specific CPU support list, just says it will support Conroe, Kentsfield and Yorkfield Core 2 CPUs. If Acer isn't willing to provide a CPU support list, then all you can really do is find the latest BIOS for your system's motherboard and hope that will allow the other CPUs to work.

i just tried a conroe cpu (E6320) and that didn't work either but the cpu fan didn't spin up to full speed for some reason.

ive also noticed that other people had this computer and they had a Q9550 installed so i bought one to see if it worked because[ all of the other configs had them. it didn't work annoyingly.

maybe they have a special bios for every cpu config?

No idea, I doubt you're going to get many answers unless you can get Acer's tech support to be more forthcoming. It could be that the people who did get the Q9550 to work have a slightly different motherboard variation than what you have, it seems that model of Acer has at least two different motherboards possible.

AFAIK, the bios is a reskinned AMI bios or Phoenix award for acer, do you think i could try a standard AMI or phoenix award bios? although TBH i dont think it will work and just brick the motherboard.

It probably would brick the motherboard, you'd need to find a BIOS for a board that is identical to the one you have, and in prebuilts they often do get somewhat customized boards. I wouldn't risk it unless you can afford to lose that system. I'd say just start saving up for a new build entirely.
