Hi.

I was wondering what is the best capture card for pc gaming. I have been looking at the AverMedia CV710 ExtremeCap U3 and the GC550 -Live Gamer Extreme. Don't know much about these to but they seem good. What do you guys recommend? I have no budget for this so recommend me anything that is good. I don't think there is anything else to add to this so thank you in advance!

Solution
I would buy the Elgato. Apparently the Avermedia device can drop frames and Elgato is of a higher quality. So I guess this is what I would suggest even though my knowledge about capture cards is minimal and seeing as no one else took interest in this thread. I think it's a great product just like the Avermedia but it's of a higher quality so yes, the money is worth it.

My build only has a i5 4460s and I thought that OBS used a lot of cpu power so i thought why not get an external device.

I tried recording some gameplay but it seemed to lag a bit. I will be using OBS for when I start streaming though. I think I am still going with a capture card since it requires less cpu power I have read.

I like what you say. The problem is that I searched around for reviews and experiences and that is why I'm here. I can't find almost anything.

Update: I have been looking at the two cards and have reached the conclusion that I now can't decide between the elgato hd60 and the avermedia live gamer extreme... I have read that they are equal in performance but I do not know for sure. The difference in price here in norway is that the elgato is 23 dollars more, is it worth it?

You may not have set OBS up right, you do have to play with the settings somewhat, and you need different settings for streaming than you do for just local recording. Your i5 should be enough to handle streaming or recording though, but RAM may be holding you back.

Here's a video I recorded at CRF 20 as recommended in the guide below: https://youtu.be/9LjJXt2YsGI?t=5m23s

You can try OBS since it's free:

And here's how to set it up for local recordings, start at the recommended crf 15, and lower it for higher quality and higher file size recordings.

And to set it up for twitch:
