I have an I7 950 running on an ASUS P6T WS PRO, whit Kingston 6 Gb ram 1333. I didn't buy/build the pc myself(was of my dad but he upgraded ;) )so I'm a bit scared, could it be possible to upgrade to 16 Gb 1600? Because I saw the motherboard limit was 2000 but the CPU top is 1066...Im a bit confused actualy..

If not any sugestions are going to be accepted.

Solution
i was acing the same Question as i have the I7 920 also a triple channel CPU however i found this article that helped me out
http://www.overclock.net/t/681697/the-truth-about-i7-1366-memory-both-dual-channel-vs-tri-channel
what i took away from this is that Yes the CPU does support Dual channel and the impact is minimal we are talking in gaming 0.0XX FPS better with the tripple channel over the Dual channel

So my recommendation would be looking at the Bios and seeing what if anything you can change there to optimize for dual channel and then go with dual channel much easier to fine Early next year when i upgrade i am going with 1600 Mhz 16 GB 2X 8 Gb sticks

Hope this helps

Triple channel memory kits are getting hard to find. But, that is how the CPU you have was optimized to operate. You should try to find a 3x4GB and attempt to fill the other 3 slots. That will give you 18GB. Windows 7 home will only utilize 16GB max if that is the OS you are running.

Thanks, was worry cause didn't want to try overclocking for now, playing for now GW2,LOL,Heroes, CS:GO etc, no OC needed the top hardware requeriments have ben Arma and Star Citizen (This winter xD) so its fine for now.

What about 2-3 of these, instead of 3 of 4 gb ?

Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600 8GB CL9

Maybe 4 x 4gb would be better option?

Wow thats actually a really good post, the difference seems minimal, now the problem is, seeing that, 4 x 4gb or 2 x 8gb , i will probably stack in 1300 for now, not looking to upgrade my CPU

i would go with the 2 X 8 Gb leaving room for a further upgrade later if needed at all going from 16-24-32 gb ram is not really needed anytime soon but having the option open is always a good thing to have also DDR 4 is here now so prices are going to just keep going up and up on DDR 3 ram
