I am going to build a computer at Christmas, I haven't built one for myself before but my friend gave me some money and I build one for him a couple of months back. My dad has offered me his old gaming case, it has thick walls, has good ventilation and requires a key to open, problem with the case is that is really old and the optical drives in it have old connections, also the maximum length graphics card I can fit in would be no more 260mm(max) and it is a micro atx case. I also found this case http://www.sharkoon.com/product/1678/BD28#desc on the internet which I really like, it is an atx form factor and I like the window and choice of colours. If I use the old case I would have to downsize to a micro atx PC, bit would save my self 40 or so quid by not buying a case. Which option would you go with and what do you think of the sharkoon case? Also are there any other cases(have to look decent) which you could recommend?

Onto the graphics cards, the graphics card I was originally going to use is https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn970g1gaming4gd as far as I am aware it is the coolest (temperature) and best looking version of the 970 and is also one of the best performing. How ever the issue I have with it is that it is very long (312mm in length) so it wouldn't fit into my old case. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp42974kr This is the card I would have to use on my old case. However I then did some further research and I found I can get a 390 with 8gb of vram for the same price. I know Black Friday is coming up so should I buy the cheapest at the time if one goes on offer? So basically I have no clue of which combination of case and gpu to use (short or long, 970 or 390), any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

So, First of all the case that you have found looks nice and it has great "specs".
The GPU's that you have looked are both very good, but if you get the 390 at the same price i would go for that. Of course it has a bigger power compsumtion nad it runs hotter but overall i would say its a better card. If you wanna save money go for the "shorter one" and use the old case. That EVGA one is still pretty epic, but if you got the cash and want that beautiful case then go for the gigabyte one aswell. Both are good. And also seriously consider the 390 i would get it.
