hey guys I had to upgrade my motherboard from ASROCKZ87 to Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard. Once i switched over and everything was up and running, i noticed that there are time when the computer turns on, but nothing loads. I'll try pressing few buttons and nothing responds. Then there are times when it does load, but it takes 5 minutes and times when the computer starts is 5seconds.... any idea what i could've done wrong?

Usually after a motherboard swap, you have to reinstall windows as drivers and other things are different and the currently installed windows doesn't know how to use the new hardware properly and tries to access it based off what it knew, which is the old hardware.

I have reinstalled the Windows numerous times, but the problem still continues :(

AHCI is Advanced Host Controller Interface and is a interface for HDDs and SSDs. It was developed mainly for HDDs to help speed them up, back when IDE was bottlenecking them.

Normally with newer motherboards it is set to on as default but might not have been. If you have done a full clean install with AHCI it should be working but might mean there is something wrong with the new board since this started with the new motherboard.

i was kind of afraid something might be wrong with the motherboard.... I've tried reconnecting everything, moving the CPU around and nothing....

Moving the CPU around? If it is POSTing then leave the CPU. I would try disconnecting EVERYTHING but the primary parts, if you can I would even remove the GPU and try loading Windows with just the memory and HDD connected a few times to see if the problem persists. As well make sure you have the latest BIOS version for the best stability.

cool, i'll try to do that, i'm running SLI and i noticed it sometimes causes display error.
if it is the GPU or something like that, what do you think my next step should be?
