I know that PC is superior but I still can't decide. I guess I am searching for that deal solving argument. Would your suggestions change if I say I like making videos from gaming footage.
PS I have a decent macbook for streaming and editing.
You can make videos pretty easily with either choice. I have a gaming PC and an Xbox One and I make youtube videos from both platforms. I don't do anything professional but it's fun to edit some highlight reels together and share them with my friends though Youtube or Facebook.
If you go with the GTX 970 you would use Nvidia ShadowPlay to record your footage. I edit my videos with Windows Movie Maker and then upload them to Youtube. If you prefer to keep doing your editing on a Macbook you can easily transfer that MP4 video file from your gaming PC and do it on the Mac.
The Xbox One has game recording built in too. It has a built in video editor called Upload Studio but I find that Windows Movie Maker is much easier to use so I upload my videos to OneDrive and use that to get them on my PC for editing.
I have also used both Nvidia ShadowPlay and the Xbox One's built in Twitch Streaming support. Both are easy to use and work well but I haven't spent a ton of time with this because I have never had more than 12 people or so watching at a time.
Again, I've never done anything professional with my Twitch Streaming. I don't have a dedicated streaming PC or any high end streaming software. I don't use a green screen to transpose myself on top of the game footage and I typically don't even monitor the chat because I like my game to be full screen for me. If you were going to get serious about streaming those are all things you would want to consider.
As for your question about 970 or Xbox One you need to factor in the rest of your specs too. You say the 970 and Xbox One are similar in price but is your CPU still up for modern games? If you list your full specs here someone can tell you whether you would have to upgrade anything else.
