I'm getting a new CPU, an upgrade from FX 6300 to i5 4690k, would i get a better fps in games and a more graphical experience, using a crossfired hd 7870 or r9 290x....Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Solution
R9-270X crossfire is about 30% faster then an R9-290X (Though you really should look at the r9-390X if you are buying into that generation.)

If you overclocked the 7870 (assuming they aren't Ghz editions already) then it is certainly the cheaper option as long as you already have a decent power supply.

Not all games support crossfire/sli setups, and you would be missing out on some of the DX12 features.
