Adding Another Hard Drive

Hello TH community. I have a very simple question that has been bugging me for the past week about storage. I know this may be a simple question that probably has been asked a bunch of times but I would like to ask from my standpoint.

I currently have a standard WD Blue 1tb hard drive. Nothing too special or fast like an SSD. Now say that the time comes that my space is getting low and I might need more. Is there a way that I can buy another 1tb for example and add that partition onto my main drive to expand it and have them running together. I know this is called raid but is there a way I can do this without having to format my main hard drive. Also I know that if one drive fails then I will lose all my data but I have everything important backed up so it wouldn't be the end of the world. If you could would you guys be able to link me to a tutorial or video. Thanks! :)

you're talking about raid 0, and as far as i know there is no way to start with data already on one of the drives and transition to raid from then on. the idea of raid is for all drives to be equal, and in raid 0 files are split up between the two drives. you would have to store what you want to keep somewhere, then transfer it back to the array.

for the sake of simplicity, i would just bet a bigger hdd. check the prices, you might be surprised how little the price goes up beyoned that first TB

Thanks for the help. In other words would there be a way for me to buy a bigger HDD and just transfer everything (OS, Games, Data, etc,) to the new HDD. I want that to be my main drive then and have the current 1tb I have now a drive for backups and such.

Yes. Any of the current migration/cloning tools can do this.
Macrium Reflect, Casper, Acronis Trueimage, Easus Todo.
Some come free with a new drive, others have a free trial.
