Power supply CARD only, and no power supply cables from PSU for video card

I received a Dell Precision 5810 and there are no PSU cables for the graphics card I want to install. It has this weird thing that is a PS CARD with a connector for a video power cable though. Never seen one of these. I presume I just plug and 8 pin into it and the other end a 6 pin into my card. But I cant find such a cable on amazon.

Anyone ever deal with one of these?

i am not an expert with branded ones. but from what i've seen, they are not really (unless it is aimed for gaming) built for high powered gpu, and most of the time they would just put the lowest capacity psu that they can inside.

maybe it is similar to old psu's when the 6/8 pins were not around yet. @425 watts, i doubt they'll give you 8pins

Thanks for the reply. I just need it to feed a gtx 260 which is mid range card. I've just never seen a PS card before. Hoping I can find an 8 pin cable for Ps card with a 6 pin for the video card.

The GTX 260 was a mid-range card when it came out, but by today's standards, it's not very power efficient - at a maximum spec of 182W on the reference card, it's not something I'd run on a 425W power supply that doesn't have the necessary cables.

One problem I'm running into is that I can only find documentation that references a 685W PSU with this pre-built, so it's tricky to give much additional useful information about this specific PSU.

Are PSU cards common. I've never seen one. Is a native built in cable from the psu better than one coming off this wierd card wires into the psu? I just don't understand why dell would do that. What's the point?

with that power supply you are better off installing a gtx 750 ti that gets all its power from the pcie slot no 6-pins needed

using adapters is asking for trouble, and a puff of acrid smoke

Thanks for all the replies. My fault for not paying attention on ordering, but just assumed a mid range workstation would have normal power supply. Im not touching that franken-PSU-Card thing. I can get the 685 watt PSU with cable for $169. Will bite the bullet.

Honestly, I think it's a mistake in the long run, assuming you have a standard atx/matx motherboard. Getting away from the OEM PSU and case, when the results will be a direct improvement for the same money, is worth any additional effort.
