No Stock CPU cooler! Not overclocking. Which cooler is optimal?

1) I'm getting an i7 5820k. It does not come with a stock CPU fan.
2) I am not planning on overclocking.
3) I already know I need a CPU cooler even though I'm not OC'ing. And that's where I need help.

The build I am configuring is for gaming and video editing/rendering. Likely getting a gtx 970 GPU. But again, no overclocking. That said, what type of aftermarket cooler do I go for? Do I go for an imitation of a stock? Something a few dollars above? Or should I step it up to a bigger heat-sink?

I've heard a lot about the Hyper 212 Evo, but is that overkill and wasted money in my position?

I am new to this computer building scene. Specific guidance on what range of performance coolers I need to look at would be so much appreciated!

Solution
I would go something like the BeQuiet dark rock, or the cm hyper 212 evo, just to avoid any throttling and keep the noise levels down.

The hyper 212 isnt overkill, its a budget cooler.
A good cooler or whole cooling is never waste of money, just like a PSU. If nothing else a good cooling solution, better than really needed will bring you a lot of quiet. With proper settings fan/s will turn slower and will not make noise. Eventual dust will require less cleaning too. Yet when needed you'll have a good reserve to fall back to.
Gaming and video rendering put more load on CPU than most else specially when run for longer. You won't be buying cooler often, aftermarket coolers come with mounts for many systems and don't go bad.

The hyper 212 evo was the standard budget cooler for a long time. Long enough to spawn this thread.
The 212 is good, so is pretty much everything on that thread.
It's on sale for $25 now on amazon. Don't get much more budget than that. But feel free to peruse that list if you want to optimise for noise or something.
