Hello all,

I have this interesting problem... I just bought a brand new PC, assembled it, nothing is overclocked.

After I installed the OS I just wanted to check if everything is allright, so I started this hardware monitor to check out temperatures, fans, etc.

I was rather shocked when I saw, that one of the sensor on my MB shows around 120 degrees Celsius. All other sensors on CPU, MB, SSD, HDD etc showed normal numbers around 30, so I wonder what might be the problem ... If the sensor is faulty or something.

I just dont think that this temperature is real, my MB would just melt at this point :)...

I noticed those high temperatures on MB on sensors number 4,5,6. Sadly, I didnt find anything about the sensors in MB manual. I dont know where they are positioned etc.

Also, the computer runs just fine, is incredibly fast. I cannot complain about anything, just the "faulty" temperature.

Any ideas?

Thank you a lot! And have a nice day :)

George.

PS. CPU is on 100% because I was just doing something... So dont mind that.

Solution
lol 120c WOW. You got a portable camp fire going on there lol. Defiantly sounds like a possible bad sensor. I would first try a different monitor like CPUID, and see if you can get consistency with the temp readings. Other then that, I would try a bios update. If no luck after that, I would call MSI tech support, and see if they have experienced an issue like this. If not, I would think about a possible RMA.

I believe that is the solution, since i tried various apps for that. It seems that OpenHardwareMonitor (the app with crazy temperatures) has 2 more sensors which are not even there - at least different apps dont show them.

The rest you can see on the picture.

Many thanks for help.

Have a nice day.

George
