I currently run 3 devices off of my phone's mobile hotspot. How can I run more devices with a router. This is an android phone.

Short answer is you likely can't.

Most wireless hotspots limit the number of connected devices mostly for performance reasons. You can not use a standard repeater/bridge to fix this because they do not support WDS. WDS is the function that allows multiple devices to share a single wireless connection.

The only way you get this to work is with a very special router that can take is wan connection as a wireless connection. Because it is using NAT on the wan connection there appears to only be a single mac and ip address connected to the hotspot.

How much effort do you really want to make to accomplish this. You can do it with a common router if you load dd-wrt on it or you can look for companies that sell routers. A very small number of repeaters can run in this mode rather than WDS but it takes careful study of the vendor documentation.
