To make a M.2 boot-able you need to have the system in AHCI and UEFI mode. Then you need to install Windows 10 in UEFI mode, basically once you pull up the boot menu with the 10 install select the one that has UEFI next to it. That is the only way for M.2 to become boot-able.

Other than that you should be fine. It will act like any other SSD.

I do, however, suggest that you format or disconnect the 850 during install so it doesn't decide to install one of the hidden partitions to the 850. I have had Windows 8/8.1 install some of the hidden partitions to a secondary non-formatted HDD. If it is formatted it normally leaves it alone and puts all the partitions on the primary drive, as it should be done.

Hi jimmy, Thanks for reply! I ended up installing windows 10 on the m.2 last week in latency mode I guess. I have it in UEFI now I think do to 6 sec boot vs 35 sec boot.

I am not sure why tho I don't see any information under the NVM.E < spelling?

Any thoughts

THANKS

I hade usb mass storage in legacy mode the first time I installed win 10 the pc took 35 sec to get to the password screen

After hour and hours on the Internet I found I need to set it to UEFI I did and got boot disk errors.

So I set USB mass storage to UEFI and reinstalled windows 10 I did a delete and format then reonstalled. Now the pc from hitting the power to password takes 6 sec .

But in my bios under NVME I still need no info

Are there any options under the SATA to set it to NVMe? Like if you selected between IDE and AHCI?

Considering the boot times it almost sounds like it is working and maybe the BIOS just doesn't have the info on the dive. I mean 6 seconds from boot to login is pretty damn fast.

i checked my bios when i got home from work . under nvm.e it seemed to have found it . maybe had to reboot a few times

its would be a lot easier if the drive came with info to set the bios to UEFI ect :/

but its working now THANKS !

now to fix this loud Corsair H100i gtx cooler fans sound like a jet engine under load

Do you have it set to Quiet, Normal or Performance? I have mine set to Quiet right now as I don't have it overclocked so it is pretty quiet and Normal is OK.

Remember though with a AiO they use high SP rated fans to be able to push air more easily through the fins of the radiator. They are going to be louder. You can get quieter fans but they also normally have a lower SP rating making them less efficient at cooling.

I tryed to set it to quiet mode but , it never seems to stay there. On corsair link it shows gigabyte fans running at 5000 rpm after gaming maybe do to the AIO being on the cpu-fan on the mobo. I am not OCING atm so maybe I can set the fans in bios to only hit a max 3000 rpm ?

Are you using the stock Corsair fans? The H100 always hooks into the CPU header so the motherboard doesn't freak that there is no CPU fan but the Link app controls the fans speed depending on what you set it to if you are using the Corsair fans and they are plugged into the Corsair Link headers, not the motherboard. If the fans are plugged into the motherboard instead then it wont matter if you set it to Quiet, Normal or anything as Link only works with its controller.

Yes I have a stock fans plugged into the H100igtx wire the the splitter the single wire to the cpu- header on my mobo I belive it's the power and the usb plugged into a usb 2.0 on the bottom of my mobo . I will play around with the corsair link after work see if I can get it a bit quieter.

I played around with the corsair link, I going to asume the gigabyte fans the corsair link shows are the H100igtx fan's. do to no other fans plugged in the mobe. All others for the case have a fan block on the case straight to the psu. I will play with the max rpm on thos and see if I can get them at a lower rpm and keep my cpu under full load to 70c or lower

You should be able to not only set the fan speed but set a specific curve depending on the temperature. I have not messed with it myself as I tend to use my headsets when on my PC so I neve rhear my fans but from what I have see it is a very customizeable system.
