Overclocking AMD Athlon X4 860K Via AMD Overdrive

I'd like to overclock my AMD Athlon X4 860K from 3.7 to 4.2 GHz, and want to use AMD Overdrive to do so. I know that I should disable turbo core control and keep the voltage as low as possible, but I'm not really sure what voltage I need to set it at. If it helps, here are my PC specs:

Thanks in advance (by the way, despite what PC Part Picker says, the Hyper 212 EVO fits fine in my case).

Don't use that program to OC your CPU. It's a decent program to monitor temps, especially thermal margins but DO NOT autoOC using it.

Go through BIOS. I'm familiar with the program, I used to be a big fan over majorly overclocking FX-6300's.

Go into BIOS, disable turbo core, increase your core mulitplier to reflect 4.2 ghz and then increase your voltage a bit over stock. Run Prime95 while using HWmonitor and/or AMD Overdrive (all free programs) to monitor your temps. I believe your CPU should be kept under 70C maximum if I remember correctly. The goal is obviously much lower than that.

Keep bumping up your core multiplier and increase your Vcore by 0.025 increments at a time. Stress test it and see what happens. If it freezes or restarts, you need more Vcore. Keep doing this until you've found your highest CPU frequency with a temperature that you are comfortable with.

Let me know if you need any additional help.

I'd suggest a different aftermarket cooler, but thats my opinion. Evo 212's are very overrrated and really limit your ability to OC. I was able to get my FX-6300 to 5.0 ghz using a Corsair H60i. It's worth the extra money if you really plan to overclock and game.

What do you mean by "reflect"?

Different motherboards have different BIOS interfaces, some show a multiplier, some show the straight-up clock frequency. I mean you will have to change whatever format it is in order to achieve 4.2 ghz. If you are confused, watch a few different videos on YouTube about specifically OCing your CPU (its a fairly popular choice CPU for OCing) and you'll see what I mean.

Is the RAM speed supposed to change along with the CPU speed? I tried overclocking by 111 MHz (I didn't increase the voltage), and the RAM speed changed from 1600 MHz to 1648 MHz.

Disable "Cool n' Quiet" mode and that should take care of the RAM frequency changing. You really don't need that enabled if you are planning to overclock.
