I'm looking at upgrading my GPU and CPU (hopefully with some good deals for black friday).

This is my current build:
GPU: AMD R9 270x
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz
12 Gb ram
Mobo: Askrock 870 Extreme3
PSU: 600W ModxStream Pro

Currently I'm looking at one of the R9 390s that are on sale on newegg right now like this or this. However, I'm guessing that that upgrade would bottleneck my CPU? If not, then that would be great. But if it does I'm looking to upgrade it as well. Would it be more worthwhile to go with a new mobo and a newer socket CPU like this, or would it be fine to go with a processor that would fit in my current mobos AM3 slot like this? I wish I knew enough about comparing these sort of things, but I don't. So any input would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Your GPU really isn't all that bad really. It isn't all that far behind an R9 380. You would need to go with a 390, or GTX 970, to get a worthwhile upgrade. Given the age of your CPU, I would say it would be best to upgrade that, and psu, this time, and save up for the next gen cards, or maybe pick up a matching 270x, if you find a good deal on one, for crossfire.

Or wait on a new single card. Left the PSU the same, as that is a stellar deal.

Hm, in that case, I might instead just save up to build a liquid cooled PC sometime later. Thank you for your help!
