Can my PSU Power an R7 260x?

Hello,
I am looking to upgrade my GPU from an R7 240 to an R7 260x. I am currently using an Insignia 520W PSU ( http://www.insigniaproducts.com/products/computer-speakers-accessories/NS-PCW5250.html ), and I believe it has enough watts to power a 260x. However, I don't know if 18A on one 12V rail and 16A on the other can power it. If I don't have enough amps on one rail, is there any chance I can run the GPU on 2 rails at once?

Hello DharokTitan,

A Radeon R7-260x needs at least 19 Amps on the 12v rail and a 450 watt power supply. Your wattage is enough, but the 12v rail doesn't quite cut it.

It's close, but you'll need to get a better PSU to run that GPU reliably.

Insignia is a tier 5 unit and should be replaced asap for system health.

Is there any way I would be able to use both of the rails at once to power a GPU? I understand that my PSU isn't ideal, but my system is a budget system and I don't have lots of money to put towards new hardware.

The best solution is to replace the unit.

I know it can be disappointing to have an unexpected expense, but it isn't worth risking the health of the rest of your system by using that PSU with the R7 260x.
