What to do with an un-upgradable Win 7 laptop

I just bought a new laptop to replace a dated Dell Inspiron 1521. This was just about the least capable 15" laptop Dell made when it was new some 7 or 8 years ago.

It has since been upgraded to the latest Windows 7 but there is no Windows 10 driver for the GPU.

It also had been upgraded from the standard 2Gb memory to 4Gb. The HDD, which was a very modest 160Gb when new was replaced with a 240 Gb SSD. Otherwise, the system is as built:
1.9 Ghz dual core AMD Turino and it weighs in at 102 Oz. Screen is 1200x800

So, what do I do with it. Everything works fine.

I have been thinking I would like to create my own cloud. I have a number of disk drives around that could be used. They are all working but some are slow and noisy plus they generally were replaced because they were too small to do the job. I also have a couple of 1 Gb drives installed in a NAS enclosure that are shared by my wife and I mostly for backups.

Is there any software that I could load onto the Win 7 laptop that would allow it to manage a bunch of drives, some of which are on the LAN as NAS drives and some of which would be attached to the laptop as external USB drives. I would expect the laptop to spinup and spindown the appropriate drives as required.

Or, should I junk the whole works and buy a new MyCloud from WD.

What else can be done with an old and slow (and very heavy) laptop? - sounds like a description of me.:(

I liked the idea of using it as part of a media centre but I just bought a new "smart" TV with a full Android OS so there is not much more smarts I could add.

I think I will donate it to "someone" who can make use of it. There is a Senior Citizen's Home nearby and I will approach them to see if they can use it. I don't mind donating but I don't want to support it.

As an alternative, the Canadian Legion operates a Senior's program and they may have a use for it.

I have a lot of work to clean all personal data and add some form of AV. I would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 but I'm not sure how to do that. It was bought with Windows Vista and then update to Win 7 Home from a CD purchased as an "Update" that was good for 3 PC. I can't remember if a clean install can be done from that disk plus there has been at least one Service Pack and many patches since.

I.m not sure which is easier - Clean or Clean Sweep
