Random shutdowns, not the PSU?

My computer (MSI Gaming 5, Intel Xeon E3 1246-V3, MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G, EVGA G2 650W) has been randomly shutting down recently when gaming. I assumed at first it was a bad power supply, but it seems now after an RMA that the PSU isn't involved, especially considering the class of power supply I got.

Now I suspect the motherboard or perhaps the graphics card, and here's why: I have CPUID HWMonitor and it says my 12V rail is putting out 11.264V, which is definitely a problem. The weird part is that this is the same exact voltage I read with the old power supply 2-3 weeks ago, to the millivolt. My first choice of culprit is the mobo because the voltage reading falls under the motherboard subheading, even though (correct me if I'm wrong) that 12V power goes to the graphics card.

Before I gut my system with new thermal paste and reinstalling every component of my system (sigh) I want more informed opinions on my problem and some confidence that replacing the motherboard is actually going to solve the problem. Ideas?

Wow, so you are apparently right. HWiNFO gives me a reading of 12.288V on the 12V rail, so that's definitely not the issue. Anything else specific I should look for, or should I just post screenshots of the whole thing? :p

So, just as an update to close this thread for the record, I did find the problem and it isn't the motherboard or the PSU. Actually, it's my terrible computer building skills--I managed to miss that I didn't fully clip in the main power cable to the motherboard. After some elbow grease and sweat, I have had no problems since. Moral of the story-check the cable connections.

Thanks for your help, Blackbird. I did get some better hardware monitor software out of it, at least :)
