I used to have a laptop connected to my tv. I now have a custom build but it still detects that the native res is this? My native res on this tv is 1080p, how to I make the recommended 1080p?

Change the display resolution in Windows. For Windows 7, right-click any space on desktop, then choose "Screen resolution" from the context-menu.
